-- I'm always looking for new music, so if you have a suggestion or your own music let me know!  If I like it I'll feature it here. --

Summer Breeze
by Seals & Croft

Memorial Day has always signified the beginning of summer to me, so I'm bringing you five songs that remind me of this hot season. (To be honest I've been waiting months to play this song.)

On a side note: between tornado warnings, work week, and a few other things I haven't been been able to update this week. No worries I'm back.
Boys of Summer
by Don Henley

One of the best summer songs ever.

The Things We Did Last Summer
by A Fine Frenzy

Oh this little gem is a triple threat: a beautiful fan video made of a fabulous movie set to this incredible song. I feel some summer days should feel like a lazy 40s day.
Like a Rock
by Bob Seger

I know what a manly song this is, about a man reflecting on his best of times. As a young girl though when I heard this song I always felt like I had the world at my feet. And never as much as when summer started.

by Michael Buble

Your Woman

Beautiful voice and this song is amazing. I'm not a big Haley/Damon fan, but gaby's video are just phenomenal. Fantastic all the way around.
With You
by Jordana

This girl's voice is just gorgeous. Truly an amazing talent, I have no doubt we will be talking about her in the future. This song is from the musical Ghost.

Wicked Games
by Stone Sour

I actually clapped when I saw they had done this cover. An amazing cover to be sure, but did you expect anything less from the ever phenomenal Stone Sour?
Breakdown

Valerie
by Glee Cast

II so love this version and even though Santana's new Amy Winehouse song was on tonight I still want to hear this one.
Pure Imagination
by Glee Cast

I balled. Not only do I love this song, as you can tell by the number of repeats, but when they played this at the funeral... I balled. Just beautiful.

Walk on the Ocean
by Toad & the Wet Sprocket

They played this on One Tree Hill tonight ("Somebody told me that this is the place, where everything's better, and everything's safe" is a line used from episode one.) However, if I could have gotten Bethany Joy Galeotti's version of this I would be playing it. That girl can sing!
Two Pink Lines

Say You'll Haunt Me
by Stone Sour

Don't you just love this band? Everytime they come out with something new I just get excited.
Wheels
by Foo Fighters

As much as I love Stone Sour they just can't beat this band. My adoration for Dave Grohl and this band is pretty bad. If you haven't seen their documentary you need to.

My dad suggested this song, and I have to say it is a FABULOUS suggestion. Really good.

You Gotta Nother Thing Comin'
by James Durbin

To say I'm pissed would be an understatement. James was the best and I will not be watching American Idol ever again. Just terrible.
Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting
by James Durbin

This kid was amazing and I hope he has all the success in the world. A phenomenal performer.

Don't Stop Believin'
by James Durbin

Oh America (who didn't vote for James Durbin) you so suck. I don't care if this song is over done, James was incredible.
Uprising
by James Durbin

This cemented his position as the best.

Love Potion #9
by James Durbin

This is how a cover should be done. Oh, I'm so ticked. I know James will be fine, but he is phenomenal. So upset. Alas this is for Friday, so enjoy the fabulous music.

Love Under Key
by La Rocca

Rolling in the Deep
by Lea Michele & Jonathan Groff

I don't care this cover was just fantastic. Truly great scene and wonderful cover.

by Sarah McLachlan

For reasons I can't explain when I hear this ridiculously beautiful song I think of the show Charmed.

Whenever I hear this song I'm automatically transported to Hawaii and watching Batman Forever (the one with Val Kilmer). Don't ask questions, just accept.

by Blue October

Ride My See Saw
by Moody Blues

My dad recommended this song for me. And I have to say it is a great suggestion.
Angie
by Rolling Stones

I felt a little bluesy. Not sure why.

Video Killed the Radio Star
by the Buggles

I don't think there is much to say about this song except that it is wonderful, but you knew that.
What's Up
by 4 Non Blondes

I heard this on the radio today. I was in the 8th grade when this song came out. I'll never forget when I turned 25 and was the same age as the girl when the song was written. There really isn't more insight into it. World just gets weirder the older you get it seems.

Hunger Strike
by Temple of the Dog

I was searching for songs this morning. Not sure what I wanted to listen to. And then I stumbled on this gem. Couldn't resist.
Other Side
by Aerosmith

"You love me, you hate me
I tried to take a loss
You cryin' me a river,
but I got to get across."

GGreat song.

Never Been to Spain
by Three Dog Night

I could so see me singing this for kareoke. Assuming "Squeeze Box" was unvailable. And PS: I was born in Oklahoma.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name
by Gary Portnoy

I hope the singer is correct for this version, but I didn't know. I know that Gary performs the theme for the Cheers show, but this is YouTube so who knows? Meanwhile, today's theme is Theme Song for Comedy shows. I wanted something fun and bright today and these always bring a smile to my face.

EEspecially this song. If you are feeling bad listen to the lyrics, they'll make you feel better.
Happy Days
by Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox

I didn't watch much of this series, but it always reminds me of Shas because she used to love anything 50's themed including this show. I did always like the song.

Good Ole Boys
by Waylon Jennings

I don't think I've actually watched a single episode of this series (should have though because I love John Schneider), but that's okay I listen to the theme song.
Facts of Life
by Gloria Loring

I already feel many of you guys cringing. However, I know there is a substantial number of you girls who said when seeing this, "Oh, my goodness! I loved that show!" This is for you, the others can skip on. (PS: Did you know this was written by Alan Thicke? Pretty Awesome.)

I Love Lucy
by Desi Arnaz

Timeless.

This show even sixty years later (October 15th is the 60 year anniversary), is still funny and brilliant. There is something so comforting about this show.

Just Between You & Me
by Lou Gramm

I woke up this morning and I thought, Lou Gramm! I'm kidding, I thought that was a terrible dream, but when I got in the car this was what I wanted to listen to.

Caught Up in You
by .38 Special

The song above made me think of this song. And you can't go wrong with .38 Special. Especially with summer approaching.

Go Your Own Way
by Lea Michele

I thought the music from this episode was wonderful. Of course it was all off of Fleetwood Mac's album Rumors. Great scene, great song.
Somebody to Love
by Queen

I just really like this song. Still bummed I never got to see Freddie Mercury in concert.

Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town
by Pearl Jam

Last night's season two finale of Justified was brilliant and incredible. Poor Dickie, he caused the death of four people (three his own family). I have no doubt Boyd will take care of him. While watching this riviting series they kept showing promos for Rescue Me with this song, so I wanted to hear it all today.

Wednesday 05/04/11  Happy Birthday Melissa!
Ocean Avenue
by Yellowcard

My dear, dear sister, Melissa's birthday is today. In case you couldn't tell. Last year I had dedicated songs to her, but because I was still figuring out how I wanted to do this I didn't keep the reasons. So I thought I would today.

OOn a road trip many, many years ago Melissa played this album several times. This was about the only song I really liked. However, it proves the girl has good taste in music.

Dance, Dance
by Fall Out Boy

Back before they made it big, before "Sugar We're Going Down" was even a radio hit they were Melissa's favorite band. I couldn't stand their first hit, but when I heard this song I realized what Melissa had been trying to tell me about them. She has a great ear for music.

Bounce in California
by Soul Kid #1

Melissa created an album for a class called "Dance Dance Revolution". This was one of the songs on here. As you can tell we don't always have the same taste, but I really liked this song on there. So thanks for the intro sis!
Every Me, Every You
by Placebo

I feel like a bad sister because I don't know her favorite Placebo song, but this is a band we have in common. We also love Mumford & Sons.

Jesus Christ
by Brand New

This used to be Melissa's favorite song and band. I change all the time so this might not be the case now, but I know she used to love it. Melissa is extremely smart and even though she's been out of the state for a while I love and miss her.

Fire Down Below
by Bob Seger

I so want to see him in concert. I hope I get to. I'm so glad to hear our local classic rock station playing this a lot more these days.

Suzie Q
by Creedence Clearwater Revival

How awesome is CCR? That was rhetorical because everyone knows they are amazing. I was never your typical musical child. In the 6th grade when all my friends were listening to Kiss FM I was happily learning from the oldies channel. When I went to the 7th grade I discovered 70's classic rock and I've never looked back.

Soul & Inspiration
by The Righteous Brothers

Obviously I listen to all kinds of music, and listen to very modern music, but there is something about the older sounds that just resonate with me.
Let It Ride
by Bachman Turner Overdrive

This song was probably one of my longest running favorite songs. It lasted a good year or two and with me that's saying something. I don't know when it was replaced, but it is still a song I love to hear.

Jet Airliner
by Steve Miller Band

I'm weird this way but I love to listen to this song when I'm about to go on a plane. When I moved to DC for a few months I played this all the time. I'm not leaving now, just a great memory of travel. I miss traveling...

We Are the Champions
by Queen

I couldn't pass up this momentous occasion. To say I'm proud of our millitary would be an understatement. There are no words that can describe the gratitude that we (all of us here at CommXTech) have for you and your sacrifice. Thank-you.

Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue
by Toby Keith

I still haven't heard a song that sums it all up so perfectly as this song does. Amen.

Warrior Song
by Warrior Project

God bless you.
Stars & Stripes Forever
by US Military

Very proud to be an American. Always have been. Always will be.

Star Spangled Banner
by the Academy Choirs

Big Balls
by AC/DC

Today is a little tongue-in-cheek fun. With the Royal Wedding and it being a Friday I thought why not.

Great Balls of Fire
by Jerry Lee Lewis

A song about love... did anyone else have to learn the choreography for this song like I did in choir in 6th grade? I can still do it now. I just tried it, yep, still know it.

Ballroom Blitz
by Sweet

Oh how I love this song. "And a girl in the corner that no one ignores cause she thinks she's the passionate one."
Pinball Wizard
by Elton John

I chose Elton John's version. No reason, just did.

Big Balls in Cowtown
by George Strait

Since I am located here in cowtown I couldn't pass this song up. Plus it was the inspiration for the countdown with AC/DC's song.

Warrior
by Scandal

My name means warrior in Gaelic. I just thought I would throw that out there. Oh and this is an 80's countdown.

One Night In Bangkok
by Murray Head

This was always a favorite 80's song of mine.

Kyrie Eleison
by Mr. Mister

My dad is not a huge fan of this song, but I like it so I'm playing it. This is not a jab at my dad who threatens to play "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" by Culture Club when I think of playing songs he doesn't like. Mostly because I hate that song with a passion and do not wish to hear it. I just happen to really like this song.

Forever Young
by Alphaville

Great song and I do not like Jay-Z's version. There I've said it.

Lonely is the Night
by Billy Squire

Ah, the very talented Billy Squire. Still can't find a version of "Everybody Wants You" to play on here. I blame the CW's campaign for that.

I Feel Pretty/Unpretty
by Glee Cast

This was my favorite song from last night. I think I'll go play TLC's original. Seriously men, if you have a loved one who is a girl you need to tell her how amazing she is. People get 6 negative comments to one encouraging one.
Whiskey
by Jana Kramer

She sang this on One Tree Hill last night, and I was quite surprised by how much I liked it. Certainly a great country song.
Hey You
by Pink Floyd

To say I'm a little upset with what is happening in Washington would be an understatement. However, I'm more upset with the apathy that I see so prevalent right now. It just makes me sick to my stomach.
Say It
by Blue October

* Lyrics Warning

II'm still really into this song and I woke up singing it again so I thought I would keep it on here. I at least have some control over this.
Tuesday's Gone
by Lynyrd Skynyrd

I like to play this song after Tuesday for giggle's sake

Say It
by Blue October

* Lyrics Warning

I listen to a ridiculous amount of Blue October when I'm ticked and frustrated, and since I have been since Friday night it is of no surprise this song is on here. "I gained 40 pounds because of you... I confess you're too much stress..." some of my favorite phrases.
Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)
by Looking Glass

So yesterday was a tough day to say the least. Not as bad as some of last week's, but still not pleasant. So, I ate spagetti noodles with peanut butter, cleaned the kitchen, and listened to my music at a high volume. It really helped. And this is one of the songs that turned my mood around.
Rich Girl
by Hall & Oats

This is probably my favorite Hall & Oats song. My parents love to tell of this woman they were friends with who when hearing my parents were going to see Hall & Oats asked, "Who would want to see someone haulin' oats?" I can beat that with a girl I used to work with who didn't know who the Rolling Stones were. We never became the best of friends... for obvious reasons.
You're the One
by The Vogues

This was in the Rich Girl suggestion pile. Great suggestion. My kind of happy music.
One Toke Over the Line
by Brewer & Shipley

This goes out to Andy Stanley who for his 667th tweet (666 was making people nervous) tweeted this: anujaraM ekomS and then deleted it. Love a pastor with a sense of humor.

Someday Out of the Blue
by Elton John

I was so bummed when this video was deleted. Not only is the video beautiful, but the song is just wonderful. So, when I saw it came back I had to play it again.
Walk Away Renee
by Left Banke

We had a hail storm last night and it has the left the day gray with clouds, which for reasons I don't know it makes me think of this song. I guess because I always picture him saying this as he turns away on a gray rainy day.
I Love Your Smile
by Shanice

I needed something upbeat today though because between the late movie I went and saw with my sisters and the hail storm I'm tired! I think this song is adorable and puts me in a good mood. It certainly helps on this dreary Monday morning.
According to You
by Orianthi

I hadn't heard this song in a while, and it sounded fun this morning.
The Boxer
by Simon & Garfunkle

To round out this countdown today we have this gem. I wish I could have found one with better volume, but its okay.

Jesus Freak
by DC Talk

To celebrate Good Friday and Easter I have some fabulous Christian songs. These are some of my long-standing favorites. It took me forever to be able to rap the part about John the Baptist, but well worth the effort. And just so we are all clear, I LOVE Jesus.
Monster
by Skillet

This a ridiculously good song about sin. The only other one that I think rivals this one is "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica. Skillet is a great Christian band if you're into this type of music. Which as you know, I am.
Never Going Back to Okay
by the Afters

A wonderful matra that I certainly hope I live. I'm so thankful there are many great Christian rock bands out there. The sound I love singing about the subject that saved my life.
I Still Believe
by Tim Capello

This is a cover the Call's song, but I really like his version better. If you are going through a hard time and need some hope this is a great song to listen to. "I feel like I... like I want to go home, what do I feel, what do I know? But I still believe. Yes, I still believe..." - One of my favorite lines. And there are so many great ones.
Everywhere I Go
by the Call

One of the best bands ever. Everytime this song plays I have to listen to it. The lyrics resonate so soundly within me.

Movin' Out br /> by Billy Joel

I may not have a #1 favorite band (I do have a permanent 4), but I do have a #1 favorite singer and that is Billy Joel. So today as it is raining outside and I anticipate some changes coming I wanted to play my comfort music.
Beast of Burden
by the Rolling Stones

I don't think I could have a comfort countdown and not have the Stones. They are in my permanent four. This song has done its rounds as my favorite Stones song (which right now is Ruby Tuesday), and I still have a sweet spot for this song.
Throwing It All Away
by Genesis

You know my absolute adoration of Phil Collins, so it should be no surprise that a song with him would be on here. This is where I actually prefer the live version to the studio. I can't explain why I love this song so much, but it is just a comfort to me.
Georgia On My Mind
by Ray Charles

I don't think you can get more comforting than this song and Ray Charles. For me it just takes me back to a beautiful summer filled day as the sun sets. There is no work to worry about and you are just enjoying being out of the house... That's where it takes me.
Sad Songs (Say So Much)
by Elton John

My #2 Favorite Singer. Phil Collins is #3 by the way. Alan Jackson is #4. In case you were curious. Elton is right Sad Songs do say so much and this song always makes me feel better, even when I'm in a good mood.

City of New Orleans City of New Orleans
by Arlo Guthrie

I am going folk today. If this is not for you I understand. This song always gives me warm fuzzies, and I enjoy folk music. There is just no denying it.
He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother
by the Hollies

I pull out the big guns for this. Now some might not consider this folk as the Hollies were never a folk band, but I'd have to argue that point. I don't know what other category this song would fit better into.
Timshel
by Mumford & Sons

You knew there was no way I was going to have a folk countdown without Mumford & Sons. I am beyond adoration for this band. It used to be I only had a permament Top 3, but this band is going to push me to have a permanent Top 4.
Operator
by Jim Croce

This is my favorite song of his. Especially the line, "I've overcome the blow, I've learned to take it well, I only wish my words could just convince myself that it just wasn't real, but that's not the way it feels."
Seasons in the Sun
by Terry Jacks

I know this is sad... really sad. But I like it and it is a great place to play it and not seem out of place.

Enjoy the Silence
by Lacuna Coil

Happy Belated 1 Year Anniversary of this music countdown!
I can't believe I missed my 1 year on here. It was 04/14/10. So to make up for it I'm playing the first song selection I did. I didn't keep a record of what I said on that first day, but this video is what introduced me to this cover. In fact all but one song on here is a cover.
Renegade
by Chris Daughtry

I do have a sweet spot for Chris Daughtry. An ever sweeter one for Supernatural. Dean Winchester is still my favorite.
Don't Stop Believing
by Glee Cast

I don't care what people say or complain I love this song and I love this version. Even now.
Hoppipolla
by Sigur Ros

What a beautiful song. Its like bubbles and happiness all together. Astounding. Plus the video is beautiful.
Bad Romance
by 30 Seconds to Mars

This song used to have a remarkable video that went with it, but alas YT took it down. However, the cover is still a great cover.

Thank you for celebrating 1 year with me!

Bang
by Armchair Cynics

I heard this on a Supernatural Ruby/Dean video and although the video was short the song left a lasting impression. A great introduction to a band I want to hear more of.
Bloody Well Right
by Supertramp

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. And that is really all I have to say about that.
Authority Song
by John Mellencamp

I wanted a fun song this morning and I've been on a Mellencamp jag lateley.
Roll Me Away
by Bob Seger

A great road trip song (which I wouldn't mind taking) and the spring always makes me think of great classic rock. So what better song than this one?
Too Much Time on My Hands
by Styx

I don't have too much time on my hands, but I still like this song.

I Want It All
by Queen

Today may be tax day, but I'm not dwelling on it. So we have a countdown inspired by commercials that actually had decent soundtracks. This is the first. You can't go wrong with Queen.
Anything You Want
by Roy Orbison

Target used this in their ad. Which means two of my favorite things were combined.
Time Won't Let Me
by The Outsiders

I don't care what commercial this song is used on it is one of the classics. Brilliant and wonderful song!
I'm Free
by Rolling Stones

Another band that makes life good. You can't go wrong with them either. Even if this song was used for Chase whom I detest, but not near as much as Bank of America so its okay.
Right Now
by Van Halen

I picked the video because even now, nearly twenty years later, I still love reading it.

I Gave You All
by Mumford & Sons

Everytime I think I have heard all of their songs I hear a new one and I wonder how I missed it. Wonderful song, but on the slow side if you are more into their livelier style. Reminds me a little of their song, "Liar", which was the first song I heard of theirs. Beautiful.
I'm in Here
by Sia

I heard this on a video the other day and wanted to hear it again today. It is rainy outside and so the music fits the day.
High and Low
by Greg Laswell

Since I'm notorious for crying at Hallmark commercials it is of no surprise this song made me tear up. One of the saddest songs I've ever heard. It goes right up there with "9 Crimes" by Damien Rice, "Can't Get It Right Today" by Joe Purdy, and "World Spins Madly On" by the Weepies. However it is just as beautiful.
Bother
by Stone Sour

* Slight lyrics warning

TThe haunting sadness and anger of this song is what makes it so powerful. It makes me hurt for the person who wrote it.
Forgive Me
by Group 1 Crew

As sad as the previous songs were I couldn't leave it there. I had to give up a hopeful song because I know the saddness doesn't stay that way forever.

Machine Gun Blues
by Social Distortion

I admire a band that can keep going despite all the issues surrounding it. Plus it's Social Distortion, you can't get much better than them. Have you seen the video for this yet? It is a mini movie. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
In One Ear
by Cage the Elephant

* Lyrics Warning!

MMy sister, L. got to see them on Sunday and said they were phenomenal live. I'm very much into the sound and voice. A great song for when you're sick of people telling you what you can and cannot do.
Barrel of a Gun
by Guster

* Slight Lyrics warning (if you don't like the G-D word like me)

II've been in a Guster mood lately. The other week my Pandora finally played "Fa Fa" and then miraculously played "Captain" soon after. The only problem is there are no decent recordings of "Captain" on YouTube, which makes it hard to share.
Untouched
by the Veronicas

I pilfered this yesterday because I realized I didn't have it. So, I wanted to play it again today.

"Untouched" by the Veronicas always reminds me of this song. So, here we are.

Be OK
by Ingrid Michaelson

I was blessed because yesterday it ended so much better than it began. I also heard this song yesterday and I thought that was exactly what I was feeling. Ingrid is ridiculously talented and always delighted by her musical creations.
Here Comes the Sun
by Beatles

This song... I just can't describe how joyous it makes me when I hear it. And then add to it this video? Perfection.
Runaround
by Blues Traveler

I used to know all the words to this song. So I listened to it again and tried singing. It turns out I still know a few of the words, but certainly not all.
Peace of Mind
by Boston

By now I know you are aware of my love affair with Boston. However, when I was younger I could have sworn the lyrics were "I work for the FBI". I chalk it up to my obsession with X-Files, but who honestly knows right?
Southbound 35
by Pat Green

If you have never been in Texas for more than 24 hours then I don't think you can fully grasp the pride that comes from being a Texan. It doesn't matter if you are a transplant or native Texan, it gets to you. I used to sing this when I lived in DC, and then when I lived in Mexico it was always "Northbound 35". However, if you are driving to the state 35 is kinda crazy so think about taking 287.

Spirit in the Sky
by Norman Greenbaum

It is hard not to feel better after listening to this song. Today I wanted to stay in bed and wasn't quite sure I wanted to face this week. So, as in most situations I put on music I knew would get me going and help my attitude while it was at it.
So Long Self
by Mercy Me

This is great break up song, if you want to get out of a bad attitude. I saw them perfom Saturday night and they were AMAZING! A generous and talented band.
Cry Baby
by Janis Joplin

I don't know many people who want to be called a cry baby, including myself. So when I feel a whine coming on I think of this song. Plus with Janis' voice its hard to feel down for too long.
Holiday Review
by Magnolia Sons

Doesn't this song sound like it should be played at the end of a great movie knowing the best is still coming? I don't know when I first heard this song, sometime ago I imagine, but it was on my Pandora and I had already liked it. So glad it played again.
Roll With the Changes
by REO Speedwagon

What did I tell you about me and 80s music? By the time I played this I was ready to face the week and get out there and do my best. I certainly hope you feel that way too.

Heartland
by George Strait

Today I salute America. The hard workers, the one who just want honest money for honest work. The ones who will work two jobs and do what is necessary to put food on the table and teach their children right from wrong. From the ones who serve this country to their families that miss them. Thank you for an amazing life and country. This is for you.

by John Mellencamp

For those who know that the land of prosperity doesn't always guarantee it and therefore fight like hell to get it. For those who know the pursuit of happiness is something worth fighting for.
Way Out Here
by Josh Thompson

Thank you for working hard, caring generously, and loving as best you can. You are the reason for the smiles and the ability to pursue an even better life, not just for us and our loved ones, but for others who dream about it in other places.

Mr. Brightside
by the Killers

I had a hard time picking today's music. I rarely have a time when I don't want to listen to music, but sometimes I have days where I don't care what I do listen to. Of course this is a great song, and usually does the trick to get me feeling back to my old self.
Pain
by Three Days Grace

I'm not in a sad mood, but this one usually helps with what ever mood I'm in that isn't happy.
New York Minute
by Don Henley

I've been thinking about this song for a few weeks now and since I didn't know what I wanted to listen to I thought now would be a good time to listen to it.
Higher Love
by Steve Winwood

Enough with the mopey. I guarantee that a good 80s song will always bring me back and this is a perfect choice for it. Make fun if you will, but it just has the sounds that remind me of fun Saturday mornings with my parents and sisters.

by Third Day

Love LOVE Mac Powell's voice. Just an incredible voice. And of course the band is just phenomenal. This is an older song, and worth a ton of play.
Dirt Room
by Blue October

"Slow Down" from above made me want to hear heavy drums and guitar and I've been playing this song again and wanted to hear it again today.
Fuel
by Metallica

* Lyrics Warning (written in video)

II'm not allowed to play this song while driving. I already have a lead foot and this song makes it worse. Suddenly I want my mustang to drive like it is in an action movie and we're playing the roles of Elenor and Nicolas Cage.
You Better Pay
by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

The illustrations in this video are fantastic and crack me up. I don't listen to this song often, but when I'm in this musical mood it works very nicely in.

Where I Go
by Nick Gardner

It seems I'm far behind on my knowledge of this artist. This song was my first introduction to him, and it is an indelible first impression. This video is also beautiful. Love the show, Human Target.
Desperado
by The Eagles

I really like this band's name, and their music is beautifully emotional. If this is an introduction for you I hope you get a chance to listen to more of their music.

Glad All Over
by Dave Clark Five

I wasn't sure what I wanted to listen to today, but I knew I wanted a happy song. Something to get me ready for the week, and this song popped into my head. Personally I think it is a great choice.
It's All Over Now
by Rolling Stones

This was in the suggested listening list and I hadn't heard it in quite a while. Plus you can't go wrong with the Stones.
Reason to Believe
by Rod Stewart

Listening to Rod Stewart makes me happy. I love the voice. Plus his songs make me smile and then I sing along. I'll try not to do that in the office... too loudly.
Only Hope
by Switchfoot

If you have a woman in your life who likes Nicholas Sparks movies and books then chances are you heard the Mandy Moore version of this song. As beautiful as she did the song I like this version more.
Blue on Black
by Kenny Wayne Sheppard

This is straight out of my high school days. This was at one time my favorite song, and although I change favorite songs at about the same pace I change clothes it still is a great song to me.

Won't Get Fooled Again
by The Who

In honor of April Fool's Day we have a collection of songs for fools because "everybody plays the fool." So for those who were fooled, but won't be again the Who has a song for you. Or you know if you're sick of politics, which has fools in it so I guess full circle?

Things Change
by Dwight Yoakam

I always have to say Dwight Yoakam's full name because if I just say "Dwight" I think Dwight Schrute. And those two are nothing alike. Meanwhile, this is a great break-up love gone wrong song. If you were the one wronged.
Beat It
by Fall Out Boy

Now this is how to do a cover. Incredible.
Save Me
by Remy Zero

I remember when Remy Zero was on The Edge's morning show and no one had really heard of them yet. I still have the live performance they did of this song in the studio. Then all of a sudden their song was on the theme for Smallville. Too bad they are a one hit wonder. They had great talent.
Run to You

McArthur's Park
McArthur's Park
by Richard Harris

I honestly don't know what made me think of this song other than I was driving in the truck trying to come up with my Top 5 as I had no inspiration this morning when I saw the 70s channel and just thought of this song...
Tenderness
by General Public

I was flipping through channels while getting ready and saw an interview with Alicia Silverstone, which made me think of Clueless. And this song that plays at the end of the movie.
White & Nerdy
by Weird Al Yankovic

Well "McArthur Park" reminded me of Weird Al's version "Jurrasic Park", and reminded me of this song. And this song is just awesome. I'm totally white, but I don't think I'm nerdy the way the lyrics describe. Except the web designer part... okay maybe some of the lyrics are descriptive.
Livin' On the Edge
by Aerosmith

Well "White & Nerdy" made me think of "Livin in the Fridge" which was a parody of this great song. I still remember when this album came out. My parents loved it and it was played a lot in the morning when we kids were getting ready. See, this music thing is inherited.

Bring Me Sunshine
by The Jive Aces

This song and video came to me at just the right moment yesterday. Such a joy to hear and watch. The coloring of the video, the theme, and of course the incredible music. Really incredible.
You Better You Bet
by The Who

This is such an incredible song and one that should be played often. This is my kind of romantic song.
Little Bitty
by Alan Jackson

Ray Scott referred to this man as a "living legend" in his song "My Kind of Music" and I don't think a better statement of Alan Jackson has been said. Way back when I wasn't too crazy about country music I still liked Alan Jackson. I've said it before but his voice is the sound of home.
Old Alabama
by Brad Paisley

This is an ode to the band, not the state. My friend, Shas, was telling me about this song and how much she loved it (especially because she is a huge Alabama fan). So, I had to hear it myself and it is great. Lots of references to the band and their music. Brad Paisley is talented like that.

The Ride
by David Allan Coe

This song reminds me of that scene in the PeeWee Herman movie where he gets a ride from the woman truck driver and she turns out to be a very freaky ghost. That face still wigs me out.

HHowever, I really like this song and it truly is a great one. I'm still miffed at CMT for not putting his "You Don't Even Call Me By My Name" in their Top 100 country songs. Not cool CMT, not cool.
I Believe in a Thing Called Love
by The Darkness

Oh how I wish this band was a bigger success. They played great 70s style music and they had a sense of humor about themselves. They really should have had more than one big hit. At least we have the wonderful song to listen to and the video...
Silver & Cold
by AFI

I forgot how this song flashed in my memory, but I'm glad it did. I couldn't find a good version of their song, "Girls Not Gray", but this song is great on its own. In fact I might have to play "Prelude" at some point, even if it is only 1 minute and 21 seconds.
Songs About Texas
by Pat Green

"Jerry Jeff Walker can be a coat from the cold." And Pat Green's voice and music makes me feel the same way. I'd be a walking advertisement for how amazing this state is, but if you get the chance you should come and see for yourself.

Can't Get It Right Today
by Joe Purdy

As most know I usually save Friday for fun and happy songs, but since this is an honest place I'm not feeling it today. At all. I'm having a tough time at the moment and I can't seem to get out of this funk. I will, but just not at this moment. "I'm sorry if I made you want to cry..."
The Logical Song
by Supertramp

As you can see I'm really feeling a little cyncial today. I really just want to stick my head back in the covers and let it all pass by. That's not really an option, but that's what I want to do.
Hurt
by Johnny Cash

To be honest I knew this was a cover, but I like Johnny's version best, and the only version I actually listen to.
Worst Day Since Yesterday
by Flogging Molly

"Well I know I miss more than hit." It has just been a week of utter frustration, and I just had a breaking point. So thankful for music. I guess Elton John was right, "sad songs say so much."

Come On Eileen
by Dixie Midnight Riders

One of the most recognizable and known 80's songs of all times. And remarkably I still love this song. It is a perfect 80s song and the sound to this day still gets me happy.
Gloria
by Laura Branigan

I will admit I try to sing this song every time. And once we get to the high notes, lets just say only dogs can hear that sound and they don't like it.
Amanda
by Boston

Oh Boston. How fantastic are you? Just supreme I tell you. Although based on this song I can understand why so many would choose it as a name.

Once I picked this song I realized I had a theme going. I obviously couldn't pass it up.
Elvira
by Oakridge Boys

So it was Merle to the rescue and I picked his brain for songs with names in it. I actually came up with this one, but I wouldn't have thought it without his help. Of course every time I hear this song I think about Elvira the Mistress of Darkness and Fright Fest at Six Flags, but that's a different issue...
Layla

Good Day Sunshine
by The Beatles

This song greeted me this morning and I thought what a wonderful way to start the day! So, I'm playing it again because it is such a happy song, and I certainly subscribe to the thought, "Music has Charms to sooth a savage Breast, to soften Rocks, or bend a knotted Oak" (William Congreve)
When Will I Be Loved
by Linda Ronstadt

This woman's voice is just epic. Such a phenomenal voice. We have many talented women singers today, but there is something about Linda's voice that is classic.
Roll the Stone Away
by Mumford & Sons

My baby sister and I listened to Mumford & Sons throughout the trip. I know I've expressed my adoration for this band before, but seriously are they good. It just sounds like home and I've only ever felt that way about Alan Jackson's voice before them.
Water's Edge
by Seven Mary Three

This chorus was playing through my head, so I decided to play it even though it doesn't really go with the other songs. However, it wouldn't be my kind of countdown if the songs all sounded the same (for the most part). This song is amazing and I encourage you to find a better version because it is well worth the listen.
Hazard
by Richard Marx

Yes this is how my brain works. The lyrics in "Water's Edge" reminds me of this song. I'll never forget when this song was huge. I was younger, but my mom just absolutely loved it. I probably should have kept it for another story telling song, but alas that isn't happening.

Road Goes On Forever
by Robert Earl Keen

Story Telling Songs!

TThat is today's theme. This story and song are nothing short of phenomenal. REK's voice is the perfect pitch and sound for a great story. The story itself is bittersweet, and draws you in. You have a feeling by the first lyrics what the end is going to be but getting there is still a great ride.
The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia
by Reba McEntire

Originally done by the amazing Vicki Lawrence this murder-mystery song is incredible. The music sucks you in and the lyrics weave their tale as you hear about a lonely young man whose life is turned upside down in a matter of moments. Really great story, sad to be sure, but beautifully told.
The Talkin' Song Repair Blues
by Alan Jackson

Alan Jackson is a living legend, but this hilarious song and accompanying video are a great story. Full of humor and fun and a story that we all hope we are the song writer in this story.
Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
by Gordon Lightfoot

Such a sad story. I'll never forget watching the story about this ship on some history program with my dad. I had an early fascination in the fourth grade with ships such as the Titanic and then the Bizmark. (It also began my admiration for the incredible Dr. Robert Ballard.) So, when I heard this song it took me back to the story I had seen. I don't think there is a better song out there for such a terrible tragedy.
Fancy
by Reba McEntire

What a story! The life of a charmer named Fancy and her story to survive. One of the best songs and great story-telling songs in my opinion. This is certainly one of my favorite Reba songs and the original video is fantastic too.

Get It Right
by Lea Michele

I had a wonderful break. I drove every day I was on it, but I got to see wonderful family. I loved the song from the Glee episode last week. And since there are days where I feel I have nothing but the anti-midas touch I certainly felt the lyrics.
Harder to Breathe
by Maroon 5

* Lyrics Warning

BBecause I had to put antifreeze in my car this morning and allergies are taking over my brain and literally making it harder to breathe I chose this song. However, I am trying to bring my attitude in check and know that this too shall pass.
Devil Archerist
by Bethany Joy

My baby sister played this song for me on the trip and I liked it a lot. I already love Joy's voice and this song was really good. It just stinks Epic owns it and won't release it.
Loser Like Me
by Glee Cast

I was a little afraid that I wouldn't like the original music from Glee, but I really had nothing to worry about. The music was incredible and when I get a chance I need to see who wrote it.
My Wish

Rock n Roll
by Led Zeppelin

Most know my disdain for the band's personal activities on the road especially the deal with Bill Graham, but musically this band was amazing. This song is a great one and the reason I chose it is because I'm going on vacation.

GGranted it is only two days I'm taking off from here, but it will still be nice. Its been a long time since I rock and rolled.
Back in Time
by Huey Lewis & the News

So my music selection today is about travel. I know the coolness factor of Huey Lewis has waned for some. To you I say I shame on you. They're awesome. They never lied about what they were and their music is still great now. And yes, I'm biased. Especially about anything involving Back to the Future. You say anything bad about Michael J. Fox or Christopher Lloyd and I'll have to come after you.
I Drove All Night
by Roy Orbison

I don't remember when it was that I fell in love with Roy's voice, but the love affair has never ended. Such a phenomenal musician.
Find Your Way Back
by Jefferson Starship

This may be a more philosophical finding your way back, but it fits nicely in my countdown. I'm a sucker for this band, no matter the member and name changes.
Homeward Bound
by Simon & Garfunkel

This might be a more obvious choice, but I'm not usually subtle in my musical tastes. Plus I'm going with my mother on t his trip and we both love Simon & Garfunkel and can listen to it without complaint from those who like a faster and harder beat.

Sing
by My Chemical Romance

It was so nice to hear this on VH1 this morning as I was going through the TV today. I know Glee has done this song, and while I think the track and choice is wonderful on their part, it means more to me from My Chemical Romance. Such a great band.
Head Full of Doubt / Road Full of Promise
by The Avett Brothers

Do they not sound like home? I get the same rush with them as I do when listening to Mumford & Sons and Alan Jackson. Talented story tellers and song writers. Truly an incredible band and if you haven't given them a chance yet I encourage you to do so.
Then He Kissed Me
by The Crystals

This gets my little girl heart fluttering. I have loved this song all my life and I'm telling you guys, give the woman you love a kiss. Just out of the blue and wonderful.
Take It to the Limit
by The Eagles

There isn't much I can say about this band or song that you don't already know. So just take it as an encouragement to go after what you want.

"You can spend all your time making money
You can spend all your love making time
If it all fell to pieces tomorrow
Would you still be mine?"

WWell, not mine, but you get the idea.

Jurrasic Park Theme Song
by John Williams

This movie was on Saturday and yesterday, and while it is not my favorite movie, the soundtrack is unbelievably good. Thanks to the incredibly wonderful Mr. John Williams. His music is just phenomenal, and this soundtrack is just an homage to his talent. Truly exceptional.
Momma I'm Coming Home
by Ozzy Osborune

I was moving my radio down the dial to set the station I wanted to get up to in the morning and this song was playing on one the stations. I haven't heard this song in years, and I remember how much I liked it. I couldn't pass it up for today even though it would be perfect for Wednesday since I'm going on a trip with my mom on Thursday. (Hint: mini vacation for Kelli!)
Undisclosed Desire
by Muse

I don't know why I'm constantly surprised by how amazing Muse is, but when I hear one of their songs I suddenly have a new favorite song. This one is my newest.
Evil Woman
by Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)

There is a great Simpsons scene where Homer is going over all of the 70s bands and their pattern for not using the whole name. (BTO, GFR, CCR, etc) That is not why I chose this song, but everytime I think of it makes me laugh. I chose this one cause I like it.
Misery

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
by Cyndi Lauper

After a tough week I had some trouble picking out some fun songs. So, in situations such as these I turn to the music guru, Merle, and he helped me out. Today is a girls sing theme, and starts with this song, which I believe is true.
Walk Like An Egyptian
by Bangles

Can I walk like an Egyptian? Yes, I can. In fact I can do this thing with my neck that would make you wonder how my head is supported. I guess it is being a child of the 80s that makes this music such an enjoyment and gives me the desire to dance.
Our Lips Are Sealed
by The Go Go's

See, 80's music just makes everything right. Now I'm told this is the song where my mother didn't understand one of the lines, and I don't fault her. Thank goodness for the internet and song lyrics.
Waking Up in Vegas
by Katy Perry

Believe it or not Merle is a Katy Perry fan. And we decided we had to have the video on here because it is what makes the song even that more fun. Great video and oh so true.
As If
by Sara Evans

Merle also remembered this video and I have to say it is funny. We had several videos/songs that could have made this countdown, but there wasn't enough time and enough slots, so that means there will be a sequel at some point.

La Vie En Rose
by Louis Armstrong

There are so many reasons why I love this song and Louis Armstrong. Whenever I hear this I just start drifting off to beautiful summer evenings and going out to be with friends and loved ones enjoying life. Lots of laughter, lots of fun, and pure enjoyment.
Beyond the Sea
by Bobby Darin

Sometimes I think I could live in the Big Band music, where trumpets were kings and everyone knew the conductor of the orchestra. Of course at this point I hear someone like the Foo Fighters and realize I get the best of both worlds, but this sound is always a welcomed and wonderful vacation from current music.
Unforgettable
by Nat King Cole

There were so many of his songs to choose from, but I thought this one fit in nicely. Of course this means I have more days where I can play this kind of music.
Everybody Loves Somebody
by Dean Martin

Where would we be without Dean Martin? Much of his music, which I don't know how anyone might take this, but it has a sort of Disney vibe to it. Of course I see that as a good thing because old Disney was just perfection to me, but I know some Rat Pack purists may not take that well. Oh well.
Via Con Me

I hear this song all the times in movies, but I like its sound and it is a modern sound with old world charm.

Cryin'
by Aerosmith

This was such an incredible album and nearly every song was a masterpiece. This is such a great song and the video was cool too. Still a great video after all this time. Leave it to Steven Tyler to be ageless.
Landslide
by Glee Cast ft. Gwenyth Paltrow

Gwenyth's character drives me nuts, but she has a great voice. This was a big part of the show last night and while I don't really understand how this song fits into it as perfectly as some others might have, the vocals were fantastic. The only part of this recording is you don't hear Santana's voice the way you did in the episode.
Money for Nothing
by Dire Straits

* Lyrics Warning

TThis is the original song with a word that is offensive to many. The story of this song was that Mark overheard a conversation in a hardware store about him, in which the one guy, who thought he was out of earshot, said the conversation that causes issue with so many. The song was a response to that conversation and the haha look where I am, not as a commentary on any one person or lifestyle. Having said all of that, I always thought this song was incredible and it goes back to childhood before I even understood why there would be controversy.
Irresistable
by Beyonce

It is kind of embarrasing how often this song gets stuck in my head. If someone says "to the left" or "you must not know about me", there are several phrases that evoke this song in my head. I had one of those today.
Killer Queen
by Queen

If Neal Caffery were a woman I have no doubt he would be a Killer Queen. For those who have no idea, I watch the show, White Collar, and last night's season finale was amazing. However, I'm a HUGE Peter Burke / Tim DeKay fan, so I'm with Peter on this. It will be fun to watch it again in the summer.

I'll Remember You
by The Rembrants

"When it hasn't been your day, your month, or even your year." Tough morning. The electricty in the living room is out, and not for the first time, but the breakers aren't off. Well, its been a tough morning, so that line came to mind and thus this countdown. Plus this brings back happy memories.
She Talks to Angels
by Black Crows

Well one 90's song deserves another. I just haven't found a good day to play this song. Its somewhat sad, but is a great song... so I thought today would be the best day.
A Long December
by Counting Crows

The first song has Courtney Cox in it, who was also in this video because she was dating lead singer Adam at the time, and the band before always reminds me of this band because of the names. Plus this one is kinda sad to and matches up perfectly in 90s music.
6th Avenue Heartache
by Wallflowers

I'm sure you can see my brain pattern here. The others were kind of sad 90s song and this one certainly fits into the profile. Plus any chance to play the Wallflowers is a good thing. I miss this Jakob Dylan.
Don't Cry
by Guns n Roses

I'm the only one I know who likes the Alternate Lyrics better, but I also like Use Your Illusion II better than the first one. So if we're going with sad and weepy might as well finish it off with a bang

Dancing in the Dark
by Bruce Springsteen

I heard this song in four different places over the weekend, so I couldn't pass it up. Plus its a good song. Its a toss up between this song and "I'm on Fire" for my favorite Boss song.
Midnight Rider
by Allman Brothers

Although I only heard this song twice its really not a song I expect to hear very often. However, because next week I'll be taking two days off for a small break it gets me in the mood for the trip. A great road trip song. Its vibe is also what inspired the choice for the next three songs.
Southern Cross
by Crosby, Stills, and Nash

I said last week that the popular music wasn't my go-to music and that is true. This is my go-to music. Southern Rock is in the blood. And while I know that it was Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones that really started the genre I really adore the music that sustained it. Not to say I don't love the Stones, not at all, but for comfort I stay with this genre.
Sundown
by Gordon Lightfoot

Gordon Lightfoot is certainly an amazing songwriter. This song always brings a smile to my face. Especially when I think back to when i was a kid and didn't understand half the lyrics.
Taxi
by Harry Chapin

I don't know many people who don't like Harry Chapin. My dad was certainly a fan and it is not hard to see why. He was a master story teller and the music with those stories were incredible. Really astounding music.

That's Not My Name
by The Ting Tings

I hadn't heard this song in a while and I couldn't stop singing it once I heard it again. And so it inspired the countdown for today. Just fun songs that make Fridays even better.
Club Can't Handle Me
by Flo Rida ft. David Guetta

I'm not playing the video that got me singing this song. Just be thankful. Have fun! (I just want to say that even though this type of music isn't my go to I think Flo Rida and David Guetta must have the magic touch because I love almost everything they do.)
Oh No
by Marina and the Diamonds

On our Great Videos playlist there is a Big Bang Theory featuring Dr. Sheldon Cooper that has this song, but it doesn't play the whole song so I had the real video up today.

"If you are not very careful
YYour posessions will possess you."
Shooting Star
by David Rush

Now this is a song for a girl. Its respectful, its kind, and it still has the R&B/Pop style in it. Unlike the song "Sexy B!+@h" because if that is the best you can come up with for being respectful there are other issues.
Forget You
by Cee-Lo

I wish these were the original lyrics. No worries though I did get the clean version. I guess I'm on the prudish side, but I like the cleaner version better.

The One I Love
by R.E.M

I had to stay in my bed and sing this song when my alarm went off this morning. It was a great way to start my Thursday morning. Don't you love when all the elements go together. My room was cool, the bed was warm, the sun was starting to shine, and the radio was playing a great song. Makes me enjoy R.E.M even more.
Memory Remains
by Metallica

When I first heard this song I hated it. I only liked Marianne Faithful's part and that was being generous. Then one night I had gone to bed listening to the radio and this song entered my dreams. I woke up and soon the song had won me over. And I've never gone back on it (as I did on many of my sleep conversion songs). Plus the video was really cool too.
All My Life
by Foo Fighters

Aren't the Foo Fighters just amazing? I know I'm having a fan moment here, but when I heard they were going back to the studio I clapped. No, I literally clapped in joy. I can't wait to see what they come out with next, and when they tour I will be there.
Barracuda
by Fergie

I talked about this version last week when I played Heart, and I couldn't get it out of my mind. As I stated before the problem with this cover is the guitar part. It is a disappointment to be sure, but it is the vocals that impress me. This girl can sing. And I think vocally her version is probably one of the best covers I've heard.
Rolling in the Deep
by Mike Posner & Adele

I know I just played this song, but then I heard the cover Mike Posner did. Then I heard the mashup of the two together and it made the song even better, if that were possible. I'm surprised by how much I really like Mike Posner, but the man is good.

Stuck in the Middle
by Stealers Wheel

Today's countdown is inspired by the fact it is Wednesday. If something weird is going to happen 9 times out of 10 it will be on Wednesday. So it has been dubbed in the office as "Weird A$$ Wedensday". So, I picked songs that either spoke of weirdness or the paranoia that comes with it. "Clowns to the left, Jokers to the right, Here I am Stuck in the Middle with You."
Who Can It Be Now
by Men At Work

"Go away, don't come round here no more." I laugh at this line because I get this way after a few rough calls and I just want to be at home. This doesn't happen all the time, but I know you understand when I say that some days you have to wonder if there is a full moon out or something.
Somebody's Watching Me
by Rockwell

When I hear "Who Can It Be Now" by Men at Work I automatically think of this song and vice versa. Of course I tend to forget the name because the Men at Work song is stuck in my head, so I have to say the one where Michael Jackson sings the chorus. Now I don't always feel like someone is watching me. Some days I think people who call have a sixth sense of when I'm thinking of standing up and getting a glass of water, but I chalk it up to just bad timing.
Voodoo
by Godsmack

Confession: the Capital One commercial with the Vikings never fail to make me laugh. And where he is looking at the voodoo doll and can control his friend. That is funny. For this song though it was my introduction to Godsmack and it was such a cool/weird vibe of a song it has certainly made an impression on me. In their IV album they did like Metallica's Unforgiven and made Voodoo Too, but it was not a song I enjoyed.
Paranoid
by Black Sabbath

Because if you've already dubbed a day weird you do have to live with a little paranoia. One of the best songs ever, and I love that they wrote it in less than ten minutes as the last song to an album. Now that is talent.

Rolling in the Deep
by Adele

What a way to start a day! Adele is amazing and I'm so glad her new album is out. Her voice... is just magic. Between her and Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine the new female power voices have been displayed.
If I Were A Boy
by Beyonce

This is an OTH video, but I like it. I like this song because I think it has enough element of truth in it to ring very true. I think the mis-communication at times can get us into bigger trouble than we imagined. Plus there is always the element of just not understanding the other side
Zombie
by Cranberries

I was going for power voices and I think Dolores O'Riordan certainly has one. This is probably my favorite Cranberries song as sometimes they got a little too wispy for my taste. This song I think has some of her best vocals on it.
Big Girls Don't Cry
by Fergie

When her album first came out I detested it. Mainly because all I heard was 'Fergilicious' and if that was the rest of the album you could count me out. Thankfully I had someone that told me to give it a chance. There were some incredible gems on that album and this was one of them. She has become a vocalist I look forward to hearing because her choices are surprising and her range is incredible. So give some one a second chance they may just surprise you.
Girl Next Door
by Saving Jane

Although Taylor Swift's "You Belong to Me", does sound similar in sound and lyric on the chorus they are different. I can certainly see how Taylor might have been inspired if she heard this song which came out in 2005. As a girl I fully understand this song and even if you're a guy you might listen to it just to get a glimpse of where part of the insecurity comes from. Really great song by an awesome group

Pictures of You
by The Last Goodnight

That title of the song is a popular one, but this is not a cover of the Cure song. Very different, and I really like the Last Goodnight's song
Big Girl
by Mika

Mika is certainly known for this rather interesting beats and lyrics. This one is no exception. Although most believe "Fat Bottomed Girl" by Queen is the big girl's theme I think this one is certainly a contender. And just like Queen there aren't many songs of Mika I don't like.
Beast of Burden
by Rolling Stones

This song has certainly taken its turn on my "favorite Rolling Stones" song. It took a long time to knock 'Ruby Tuesday' off the top, but 'Gimme Shelter' had it for a while. However, I like visiting old favorites so I came back to this one for a moment.
For the Longest Time
by Billy Joel

This was actually the first song I heard last Saturday and I just haven't gotten it out of my head. Any day where you start out with Billy Joel is a good day.
Already Gone
by the Eagles

I'm yearning for a road trip and this is one of the best road trip songs. Especially in the spring/summer time. Plus it has one of the best lines, "when you look up in the sky and see the stars and still not see the light."

One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
by Glee Cast

Yes folks, Glee inspired this countdown with their episode, "Blame it on the Alcohol". So, I thought I would play my favorite alchohol songs. There are so many songs to choose from I know this one won't be the only countdown dedicated to the brew.
Beer For My Horses
by Toby Keith ft. Willie Nelson

For the more celebatory drink after a job well done (which is probably most of you this evening) I picked this song. Plus with the news going the way it is I can see why we have a need for a drink.
Tick Tock
by Ke$ha

I would like to wake up in the moring with P.Diddy's money. I don't know about you, but that sounds good to me. They did this on Glee, but I like the original better, so here we go.
The Beer Song
by Weird Al Yankovic

There is one picture in here that I am sorry I saw it. A reason why you need to worry about drinking. Have fun with your friends tonight!
I'm Not As Thrunk As You Am I Dink
by Rodney Carrington

This song still makes me laugh. Every time. "I smaked his elbow with my face." Remember guys drink responsibly, as I know everyone wants to stay safe and alive.

It Never Rains in Southern California
by Albert Hammond

It started raining this morning when I was getting ready and this song popped into my head. My favorite use of this song was at the end of the series finale of Veronica Mars. Its one of those songs that you have great memories of, and so you end up smiling even though the lyrics are not happy ones.
Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head
by BJ Thomas

I'm a simple girl most of the time, so when it rains I also think of this song. There wasn't much more to it than that. (Although this song is absolutely fantastic and I much would have rather heard it mashed with Singing in the Rain than Rhianna's Umbrella, which I can't stand.)
I Want to Break Free
by Queen

This was picked because of something personal in my life. Nothing bad, but it is wonderful to have a freedom I haven't had in a while. When I sing freedom it tends to sound a lot like Queen. Who knew?
Closing Time
 by Semisonic

This was suppose to be my class' graduation song, but because it mentioned alcohol we couldn't have it. So we ended up with "How's It Gonna Be" by Third Eye Blind. This was picked over "Free Bird". In hindsight I'm thinking "Free Bird" would have been the better choice. However, the reason it is on this countdown today is that my baby sis is in a 90s mood, and I have a girls night tonight. So it all goes together. If you live in my head. Since you don't just enjoy your own memories of this song.
Barracuda
by Heart

I heard this on the radio this morning and thought, I need to hear that again. I actually like Fergie's version of this song, or at least her vocals. It is just missing the signature guitar riff, which throws the heart of the song off. Haha, I love using puns.

Don't You Want Me
by Glee Cast

Last night's episode was probably one of the funniest I've seen in a very long time. And I thought the scene for this song was fantastic. Like I've said before what makes Glee's music so good is not only the vocals, but the context.
I Do Not Hook Up
by Kelly Clarkson

I was listening to Kelly the other day and this was probably my favorite song off of her latest album. I love the fact it was written by Katy Perry, and I just like the lyrics. You don't hear that very often anymore.
Grenade
by Bruno Mars

This is one of those songs that can get stuck in your head easily. Thankfully it is a good song.
Blue Tip
by The Cars

I think I heard this last week when they were talking about older bands who are releasing new songs. I need to listen to Duran Duran's a little more, but I really liked this song and I was surprised. It has the Cars sound and it is still new.
Womanizer
by Britney Spears

This is still a great song and I saw it on my list and thought yes I will play that today.

Highway Forty Blues
by Joshua Crosby

I was turned on to this artist by a man who was interested in our Artist Avail software. A very interesting man whom I had a very lovely conversation with. Joshua Crosby is an artist he books, and told me to take a listen. I so enjoyed this song and performance I had to share it with you.
What Was I Thinkin'
by Dierks Bently

Here we've had the begining signs of summer and nothing sounds like summer to me as much as country music does. This song is just too much fun not listen to and reminds me of how great summer really is. Cause this song wouldn't be nearly as much fun if it took place in winter.
I'm Still A Guy
by Brad Paisley

For all guy anthems out there this one is a favorite. Its funny, truthful (from my observations), and a great song to listen to. I sometimes start singing it and realize wait a minute, I'm a girl.
South of Houston
by Brandi Thornton

This is why my job is so great. I heard this song just yesterday as I was posting it for our client, Kelly Bands & DJs , and I just couldn't get the song out of my head. So, I'm posting it now. Plus I'm a Texas girl and so any song that mentions Texas I listen to a little more closely.
How Do You Like Me Now?
by Toby Keith

I saw this as a suggestion on YouTube and I had to play it. I was so into this song and it is still a great song.

Illuminated
by Hurts

This was on the countdown back in 2010, but the video was taken down. However, the song is incredible. Plus this video is really good too.
The Winner Is
by Danna/Devotchka

I tweeted about this song last week. I had never heard it before, mainly because I have never seen 'Little Miss Sunshine', but I'm glad I finally got to hear it. A really incredible instrumental pieces, which I seem to be picking up more of lately, but so very nice. This song kind of reminds me of "Hoppipolla" by Sigur Ros.
This Old Apartment
by Barenaked Ladies

I think my Pandora likes this song more than I do for all the times it plays it. Not that I mind, because this band is amazing, but they do have other songs. Still, one of my favorite things about this band is their ability to sing about rather serious subjects and not make it sound like it is death grip.
Rag Doll
by Aerosmith

I heard this on the radio this morning. And since I love the line, "New version of the old scene", which for the longest time I thought was, "New virgin on the old seat" I had to play it.
Crimson & Clover
by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

This is purely for my mother. I was singing Jimmy Eat World's "A Praise Chorus" which uses this song in part of its chorus. This in turn got this version stuck in my mom's head. I'm good like that. So this is for her..

Cum on Feel the Noize
by Quiet Riot

So I was feeling a little nostalgic as I looked over at my CD collection and saw, Monsters of Rock. Do you remember that CD? One of the best compilation albums ever. And I have five songs from that album to back me up. This is #1.
Poison
by Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper is probably one of my favorite concerts because it was so entertaining and fun. My CD no longer works on this song because I listened to it so much. Great, great song.
Kiss Me Deadly
by Lita Ford

If you bought the CD from TV then this song was on there, otherwise it was on Monsters of Rock 2, but it should have been on the first. Lita Ford had talent and I was bummed they didn't go into her history on the movie, The Runaways... oh well we will always have this song. "Late for my job and the traffic was bad, had to borrow ten bucks from my old man." Just perfection.
Turn Up the Radio
by Autograph

This is our theme song:
"I'm Working hard, you're working too
We do it every day
For every minute I have to work
I need a minute of play

Day in, day out, all week long
Things go better with rock
The only time I turn it down
Is when I'm sleeping it off"

& Now that is an anthem.
Once Bitten Twice Shy
by Great White

A little dirty, a little fun, an a lot of rock. This also no longer plays on my CD. Lyrically as a girl I might be offended, but it is such a good song I'm not. So thank you makers of Monster of Rock. You've provided a great soundtrack for life.

Say You Love Me
by Fleetwood Mac

I have always liked this song, but when I was a kid I didn't know that anyone other than Stevie Nicks actually sang for Fleetwood Mac, sure they were a band, but she was the lead singer. My dad set me straight. It is one of my favorites of this great band and I think Christine's voice has a quality I would have liked to hear more of.
Cherry, Cherry
by Neil Diamond

I wanted light and happy today and Neil Diamond always puts a smile on my face. I would love to see him in concert and I'm bummed I haven't yet.
Take a Chance on Me
by Abba

Unless you don't like Abba I don't know how you can still have a frown after listening to this. Even if you don't like them you have to get a little smile or giggle at the dance moves that always accompany someone who is listening to this.
New Soul
by Yael Naim

This song still works in this countdown and I'm still playing it in my head. The lyrics certainly make me feel better and the melody makes me enjoy this spring-y weather we are having even more.
Tide is High
by Blondie

Yikes! I don't think I've played Blondie on this countdown before. Such a bummer too. I will confess that I used to sing this into my hair brush... okay, still do.

Rhythm of Love
by Plain White T's

In my opinion Plain White T's are lyrical love geniuses. With their song, "1,2,3,4" it was amazing all the ties, and then this song does the same thing with keeping in line. Really incredible. And the song as far as what you hear is really good too.
New Soul
by Yael Naim

Ever since I've heard this song it has been playing in my head. The good news for everyone around me is I haven't finished memorizing the song so I can't sing it out loud yet. Such a light and perfect song for this spring.
Crash
by The Primitives

After playing "New Soul" I wanted music that had that light sound to it and you can't get better than the 80's.
Out of My Head
by Fastball

Most people know their song, "The Way", which is great, but this one was always my favorite of theirs. "If you're sad then it's time you spoke up too.." This is also dedicated to those of us who have had something seem like it came out of the blue.
Head Over Heels
by The Go Go's

Fun, light, and great memories. This song has it all for me.

Its Hard to Kiss the Lips At Night
by The Notorious Cherry Bombers

So yesterday we celebrated the day of love with great love songs. Today, we honor the day after. Perhaps your Valentine's Day didn't go the way you wanted or you're sick of the lovey-doveyness of it all. Well this is your countdown. This is one of our favorite songs due to its humor and really, its humor.
Love Stinks
by J. Geils Band

The anthem of love gone wrong. Used in Wedding Singer and any other filmed scene where love has gone very wrong. What did we use before this song?
Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)
by Motley Crue

This is is one of Merle's favorite love stinks songs. Of course we use this expression for other things, and encourage you to do it too. Cause sometimes you don't want people to go away mad, you just want them to go away.
You Could Be Mine
by Guns n Roses

* Slight warning

AAnother great suggestion by Merle. The Gunners are my mom's favorite band, so this was certainly played a lot in my house, especially when it was time to clean. "Cause you could be mine, but you're way out of line, with your bitch-slap rappin' and cocaine tongue you get nothin' done."
It Ends Tonight
by All American Rejects

"All the wants and all the needs I don't want to need at all." Such a great breakup song. You get such a wonderful sense of relief when you hear this song. Even if you're in a great relationship you can just feel the sigh of freedom at no longer having to carry a burden you don't want.

Monday 02/14/11  Happy  Valentine's  Day!
Bed of Roses
by Bon Jovi

If you can't play sappy love songs on Valentine's Day when can you? To know if it is a good sappy love song my dad usually makes a face or leaves the room. He does both with this song. All the women in my family, and most of my female friends love this song. Sappy it is, but oh so beautiful.
Everything I Do (I Do it for You)
by Bryan Adams

Even if you don't remember the movie this song came from (Robin Hood with Kevin Costner), you know that when this song plays girls usually melt just a little. Now I know there are some hardnend romantics out there, but the sentiment in this song is something we would all like.
Kissing You
by Des'Ree

When I played this for my sisters so they would know what today's countdown would consist of, for this song I got awe's and 'I love that song', so, I knew I had picked the right one. This was also in a movie, Romeo and Juliet, and it has just made my heart flutter ever since. Beautiful song and the couple it is from OTH, a bonus for me.
Out of My League
by Steven Speaks

I originally heard this song to a Jim & Pam (Office) video, and thought it went so well. The sweet sentiment and desire is perfection.
Two Is Better Than One
by Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift

Of course this was a huge radio hit, but once I saw it paired with Alice & Hatter I loved it even more. This song may be a more modern love song, but the themes of this day and love in general never fade.

Me and Charlie Talking
by Miranda Lambert

Yes, we will be celebrating Valentine's Day on this countdown, but instead of just one day I have three days. Today's is fun love songs. This is such a sweet song and full of that youthful, summer, scent that it takes you back to when you were a kid. I still remember when she played this on the Back Porch with Justin Ferzell for 99.5 the Wolf. She was cool then just as she is now.
Memphis
by Johnny Rivers

Merle suggested this song as a fun love song and since I do so like it I thought why not?Originally done by the ever great Chuck Berry. It is said that Elvis wanted to record a cover of the song and told his friend, Johnny Rivers, who went and recorded it first.
I Got You Babe
by Sunny & Cher

Merle suggested this one as well and you can't go wrong with such a classic. And if there is someone who doesn't like this song feel free not to tell me.
Hurt So Good
by John Mellencamp

"Come on baby make it hurt so good, sometimes love don't feel like it should, you make it hurt so good." A love song and a little fun.
My Life Would Suck Without You
by Kelly Clarkson

A great love song that is not too sappy at all. Plus, you know great fun. As love should be.

Don't Look Back
by Boston

Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong decade since this genre is my favorite, but I think I was born in the right one since I still get to enjoy it. We had a snow day again yesterday and since Boston reminds me of summer I thought I would play it, not to wish for summer to get here, but to remember that the seasons always change.
Fat Bottom Girls
by Mark Saling

Such a great voice.. and I know some of you thought I wouldn't post this since I wasn't here yesterday, but really you should know better. Many of the reasons that Glee songs make such an indelible mark isn't just the way it was done but the context in which it was sung. This is certainly one of these performances.
Devils
by Say Hi

I've been listening to this song since I downloaded it. My only issue is with the one lyric, "the devil is no liar" because he is. Otherwise, why would he be evil? Regardless the song itself still has me moving to its beat.
Come Out and Play
by the Offspring

I'll be the first one to admit that I thought the title of this song was 'Keep 'em Separated' for quite a while. Ever since I heard 'I'm An Adult Now' and the line, "Young people, they can get away with murder." I associate it with this song. It is something the way young, sexy, and beautiful can get away with things...
Spiderwebs
by No Doubt

I don't know why listening to 90s music always makes me want to listen to more 90s music but it does. I haven't heard this song in a while and I think it was one of the best No Doubt songs, but that's just my humble opinion. Lyrically outstanding.

Devil's Spoke
by Laura Marling

The first notes of this song and I was hooked. The songs today all have a country/blue grass theme, so if that isn't your thing I understand. However, I would give a listen just to be sure. Besides this video is phenomenal and I don't even watch Boardwalk Empire.
A Country Boy
by Aaron Lewis

For those who don't remember or don't know Aaron Lewis is the voice for Staind, a band I much enjoy. This song though... is just amazing. Of course I do not embrace the smoking of weed, but the rest of the song I certainly feel for.
I Got Drunk
by Uncle Tupelo

The sound isn't the best, but I was hooked to this song the first time I heard it. The sound, the lyrics, the beat. All of it equals to a song that keeps your feet tapping and your head nodding.
Devils
by Say Hi

I had downloaded this song free on Amazon because like all the other songs it got me on the first hearing. I thought they were new but when I started playing it for my sister I found out that I was very wrong. Glad to be caught up because this song is amazing and I'm enjoying exploring the band.
All the Time
by Elizabeth Cook

This is here by funny story: I actually came in the middle of this video and it sounded familiar, but I really liked it. So when it was ending I felt shocked that I hadn't realized it was Elizabeth Cook, which is an artist our clients, Keith Case & Associates , books. And she fits perfectly in this countdown today. Plus I like the video.

So last week we had four days worth of snow days. Then yesterday I spent my day at the Superbowl, yes the actual Super Bowl. Then I watched the Post-Game Glee episode and watched why I so love this show. This performance was my absolute favorite. Of course this great Zombies song will be classic, but I though the re-do with make up was a great tribute.
A Little Too Late
by Toby Keith

I won't go into my thoughts on Jerry World (for those not in the Metroplex that is Cowboy Stadium), but I felt the need to play this song simply for the haters out there. You have problems, and you need to find out why you are so angry. Cause "I'm big time over you."
Where Is the Love
by Black Eyed Peas

It frustrated me that the sound on TV was so bad, because the performance and show was badass. I saw the hate out there, but I can not understand why. They sounded incredible and the show itself was spectacular. My question is, if their show wasn't great, what show would be great?
Beautiful Dangerous
by Slash ft. Fergie

It was such a shame you couldn't hear Slash. Such an incredible musician and I thought Fergie did great with Sweet Child of Mine (much better than Sheryl Crow ever did), and I was a little bummed she didn't sing this with him. So I'm playing it now.
Bills, Bills, Bills
by Glee Cast

This was my other favorite performance of the night, which was not done by the regular cast. This actually fits in with that episode of Dr. Phil I saw on Gold Diggers, but I digress.

Long Hard Times to Come
by Gangstagrass ft. Tone Z

* Lyrics Warning

I got Justified on Season 1 on Friday. Incredible show. So, that meant I heard this song several times this weekend and I thought for today I'd listen to all the songs I heard over the weekend. I don't have any insight into this song, other than it sets up the show really well.
Stand By Your Man
by Tammy Wynette

Oh the arguments this song sparks. I try to stay out of it. I, personally, think this is a great song, and certainly has more than an ounce of truth to it. However, I can see why for some the lyrics might rub them the wrong way.
I'm Running
by Mistress Barbara ft. Sam Roberts

This was my favorite song from last year. It doesn't matter when I play it or my state of mind it seems to fit perfectly. Just an incredible song.
Wild Night
by John Mellencamp ft. Me'Shell Ndegeocello

Saturday evening with perfect weather is the best time to hear this song in my opinion. When this song came out I was too young to know about the original by Van Morrison. However, when I got into Van Morrison and really started to enjoy his music I heard his song. However, it didn't have the fast pace and fun of this song and I think the addition of Me'Shell really is what makes it better.
Back in the Saddle Again
by Aerosmith

Yep, I watched RED, and thought, I don't think I've played any Aerosmith in a while, and what a great song to play for it.

That's How Love Makes Me Feel
by Diamond Rio

I needed Merle's help this morning getting my Friday fun songs going and he has provided me with some great ones. I don't know about you but there is something about a good country song that reminds you of the car top down, summer, having fun, loving life, and taking you to a great place. This song does that really well.
Born to Be Alive
by Patrick Hernandez

Now this is a Friday fun song. I love when I get to hear this on the radio when I'm driving to meet friends for our Friday night dinner. It makes you focus on the good things, and give into your need to tap, dance, move, or get up and dance.
Turning Japanese
by The Vapors

I'll admit this wasn't always my favorite song, but when I'm in a good mood it is a lot of fun to play.
Kids in America
by The Muffs

I chose this song specifically for my best friend because last night she called and told me that she is pregnant. Then after lots of excitment told me she was going to go and watch Clueless (where this version is from). That's how long we've been friends, we saw this at the theater together. So congratulations to my dear, dear friend, and your husband!
Me Neither
by Brad Paisley

We started with country and we are going to end with it. This is a fun song, and remember if they don't pick up your line you didn't want them neither.

I Want Something That I Want
by Grace Potter ft. Bethany Joy Galeotti

On VH1 they keep playing Grace Potter and the Nocturnals song, "Paris", which is a fantastic song and will be on this countdown at some point. However, it makes me think of this song that I first heard on OTH. I couldn't believe I hadn't heard of Grace Potter before then! Gifted song writer to be sure and this song is certainly something I can relate to.
Romeo & Juliet
by the Killers

I think this is a great cover of Dire Strait's infamous song. Whereas I prefer Dire Strait's version I heard this and thought it was a great endeavor. Besides if there was ever a band who could sing this with some truth it would be the Killers. Although I will say that no, Brandon Flowers, I'm not still obsessed with Led Zepplin. I only like a few of their songs.
The Cave
by Mumford and Sons

It is hard to give up Mumford and Sons, that's how amazing this band is. It doesn't matter how many times I hear them I always want to hear more. It is a pleasure to explore their music and I have a hard time saying that about quite a few new bands.
All I Want
by Toad and the Wet Sprocket

When I think of 90's music, this is what I think of. I actually started my Pandora radio station with this band and Better Than Ezra. Of course, I didn't stay there, but that is neither here nor there. So, when Pandora does go back to this music it brings back some great memories of a very interesting decade.
The Dirty Glass
by Dropkick Murphys

* Slight Lyrics Warning

I realized I hadn't played a song of theirs in a very long time. Well I couldn't keep it that way. Irish-Punk-Rock music should always be listened to at least once a week. This song makes me laugh and I certainly hope you have some fun while listening to it.

Cave by
Mumford and Sons

I am so into this band. As I've said before my favorite is still, "Awake My Soul", but each song they do is still incredible. They make folk music fun and engaging, which if you grew up with that is probably already true for you. However, being in an MTV world their music is a gateway to a genre that doesn't get a lot of notice.
I'll Be Seeing You
by Frank Sinatra

I asked Merle for a song, any song, from any genre because I had been listening to 'The Cave' on repeat and still needed four other songs. He said he wanted "I'll Be Seeing You", the fast version. That my friends is Frank Sinatra. Now Sinatra did a slowed down version of this song, but I'll admit that there is something about making it peppy that puts a little bounce in the step while keeping the sentimental feeling of the lyrics.
This Will Be
by Natalie Cole

There is a reason this song shows up repeatedly on any romantic comedy worth its salt. Cheesey, perhaps, but you have to admit that for a song about love it has a great beat, something fun, and not mopey or weepy.
You Can't Stop the Beat
by Hairspray Cast

Glee is not back until Superbowl and I just played Natalie Cole, tell me you saw this coming. They've been playing this movie on TV and although I so love the original, I really like the songs from this version. "Good Morning Baltimore" is a great one too. This song is also great from keeping you staying in the chorus cause it doesn't have that resolve your ears crave until nearly the end.
I Want You Back
by Jackson 5

To sum up this fun music exploration we have the Jackson 5. I've actually been listening to a lot of Michael Jackson lately, but none of his songs fit into the beat that today's countdown ended up having. That's the best part of music, you can explore and one song usually leads to another.

Black Hole Sun
by the Section Quartet

I heard this for the first time on Pandora last week and I tweeted, "Listening to Black Hole Sun by the Section Quartet . It is less depressing ominous without the lyrics, but still keeps the darker vibe." And it gets better everytime I hear it. After a conversation with them we started following them. If you would like to follow them on twitter, you can go here: @sectionquartet  .
Into the Ocean
by Blue October

There are some people in my family who can not stand Blue October, I am obviously not one of them. I've enjoyed their music for a long time. We have a great alternative station here, 102.1 the Edge and they had played them when they were just becoming known and I really liked their sound. Although it seems to change quite a bit I like the variety.
Beauty from Pain
by Superchick

I was studying Jonah last night and how God took all the wrongs that Jonah did and still made it work. I thought of this song and how much we all want our bad moments to work toward our good. To some how be made good.
I'll Be There For You
by Bon Jovi

Since the last song was a little sadder and went to a place I don't know that I inteded I wanted to give something more hopeful, but still in the same vein as the other songs.
Everybody Knows This is No Where
by Neil Young

I really wanted to play Dar William's version of this song because I actually like it better. Me, like a cover, shocking, I know... I might have to play this song when summer comes because it just feels like a warm breeze headed toward a small town on a fun road trip.

Sweet Caroline
by Neil Diamond

We couldn't very well not have some tunes on here that weren't dedicated to Neil Diamond on his 70th could we? I picked three of his songs that made me the happiest and that people seem to have the fondest memories of. Even when this was covered on Glee the expressions when people sing it are of joy.
Since I Don't Have You
by Guns N Roses

* Lyrics warning.

II thought as a non-Neil Diamond song this fit in with his type of music. Guns N Roses always surprised me with their music. Not only were they lyrically amazing but any covers that they do were almost as if they had created the songs themselves.
I Am I Said
by Neil Diamond

A great angsty song without sounding like you are whining, for the most part. Of course it certainly upholds the idea, "Its lonely at the top."
Alive
by Pearl Jam

When I hear "I Am I Said" I think of this song. I think because they both have this need to validate that they are there and existing. Of course the stories are different, but I think loneliness and the need for significance is something that we all share as humans.
Cracklin' Rosie
by Neil Diamond

I don't remember when this song replaced my 'Sweet Caroline' as my favorite Neil Diamond song, but it did. I don't have any great insight into this song other than it makes me smile when I hear it. Happy Birthday to Neil Diamond.

Dynamite br /> by Taio Cruz

Friday's are fantastic aren't they? I like to listen to music that puts me in the mood for a great weekend. I don't know what you would classify this song as, but it's genre of music isn't my go-to music on most occasions. However, there is something about it that makes you want to get up out of your chair and go out and enjoy the day. What's the music that does that for you?
Burn It to the Ground
by Nickelback

* Lyrics warning.

II don't like Nickelback's "softer" songs. They aren't my kind of rock, but this song right here, puts Nickelback to a rock band. If all I heard was the more wimpy side of this band I could see why you would not call them a rock band. However, if you stick with this style and leave the other behind you'll come discover just what a great rock band they are.
Money Talks
by AC/DC

I was watching That Metal Show and they were discussing how voices such as Brian Johnson's takes a toll on them because of singing the way they do. I found this a little sad because it is such a unique voice... and I never got to see them in concert. And this song? Well its awesome and a great one to play on a Friday.
Little Willy
by Sweet

I don't have any great insight into this song other than Sweet is a remarkable band with great songs. And I asked Merle for a fun 70's song this morning and he suggested this one. That man has great taste.
Hold On I'm Coming
by Sam & Dave

You knew when I said Friday and Fun that motown would be a part of it, yes? I could write articles on how much motown means to me or how much of an impact it had on our musical landscape, but really the best part of motown? Listening to it. So, enjoy.

Who Put the Bomp br /> by Barry Mann

I heard this on the way to taking my baby sister to school, and she wasn't nearly impressed with it as I was at that age. I'm really starting to feel old here. There is an innocence, to me, about 50s/early 60s music, which makes me laugh because I know back then that it wasn't innocent. Oh to see the lyrics we have today.
Power of Love
by Huey Lewis & the News

I went with my sisters last night for an impromptu bonding time to see The Green Hornet. We were discussing movie songs and this came up. I think I'm going to have to watch some Michael J. Fox movies this weekend.
Girl All the Bad Guys Want
by Bowling for Soup

I know that Bowling for Soup has some big hits, which I enjoy, but I'm surprised they are not bigger than they are. This band is amazing, they are actually nice, have incredible songs with great sounds and lyrics. But with the music industry going the way that it is I guess just being well-known is good.
Teenage Dirtbag
by Wheatus

I think this is a great one hit wonder for its time because to me it perfectly captures that sound that was the late 90s / early 2000's. The sound was happier than the heavy Pearl Jam fueled grunge/alternative sound, but the lyrics weren't pop-happier. A great sound to get us out of depressing, but keep with the theme of what alternative started.
Shake It
by MetroStation

As you can see the sound has sort of stuck for whatever genre you want to call it. I find it fun, but then again that is just me. This is like caffeine music for me.

by Jem

I was going through my personal Criminal intent video library and I saw this one and enjoyed it so much I had to share it. So today's theme came by total accident. The next three I was playing and since well... you'll see I had to pick the other two to be in here as well.
14 Years
by Guns n Roses

This was playing on my MP3 this morning and I thought, yeah, who doesn't need some good Guns n Roses?
The One
by Elton John

I play Elton John when I want to relax, and this song played and I just like it so much... and since now all three songs had numbers in them I couldn't very well not let the other two could I?
1,2,3,4
by Plain White T's

This song gives me warm, fuzzy feelings. Lyrically very cool, and the video shows the best of humans.

Time for Me to Fly
by REO Speedwagon

I'm a REO Speedwagon fan, I'll be upfront about that. They keep playing the chorus of this song as part of the promos for the radio station I like to wake up to, and then today it was the song that was actually playing when I woke up. It put me in a great mood so I'm playing it again.
Feeling Good
by Michael Bublé

No disrespect to Jennifer Hudson, but her version on the weight watcher commercials is about to drive me batty. I know that Michael Bublé is not the original on this, but I like his version best. So, I'm playing the song that makes me feel good.
September
by Earth, Wind, and Fire

I keep a list of songs in case I'm having a day where I can't think of any, and this song was on there. However, last night they were singing it on Mike & Molly and it is such a good song so I felt the need to play it now.
Sunny
by Bobby Hebb

I needed a song that kept me in the same mood that the others did and I do so enjoy this song. I really started to love this song when I flying to Ukraine where I would be teaching conversational English. It was a long flight and this was on the radio quite a bit and when I started to miss home I would sing this song. So great memories and great song.
Hands Up
by Hedley

Oh, I can't wait until Law & Order: Criminal Intent comes back with Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe as Goren and Eames. I do miss Goren. The song is fantastic on this as well and this band has another great song I really like called, "Old School". If you get the chance to listen to it.

Stayin' Alive
by Bee Gees

It's Friday! (ala the voice of the little girl in Incredible Me in response to the unicorn. - have no idea what I'm talking about rent the movie!) I'm excited aren't you? We needed some fun tunes around here and there is nothing like a Friday to show case those songs.
Working My Way Back to You
by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons

We have a great oldies station here, 98.7, and on a Friday afternoon getting ready for the weekend there is just nothing better than listening to this song. Now if I could just convince maintenance to open the window in my office and make the balcony a place to hang out for a happy hour sort of thing.

by Village People

Like there would be a fun Friday countdown without the Village People? Come on, you want to do the dance moves, and if you do you know others will join you...

Hero of the Day
by Metallica

This is one of my favorite Metallica songs. After all the events of the week and the news of everything I wanted something that was... sweeter, I suppose. Like how the monster ballad cd would say, "Every bad boy has a soft side.".
Diary of Jane
by Breaking Benjamin

I've been into this song all week and wanted to play. I just heard the accoustic to it as well, and of course, liked it. However, I wanted something a little more edgier this morning.
The Metro
by Berlin

This song has nothing to do with anything on this countdown. I just really liked it and thought it would be good to listen to this morning. That's generally how I pick most of my songs to tell the truth.
Falling Slowly
by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

I know you might be thinking why on earth did I choose the 'edgier version' of Diary of Jane if I was going to turn around and play this song. Honestly I have no idea. I woke up singing this song and it is hopeful and sweet. Yes, this is how my brain works.
In My Arms
by Plumb

I'm going to be a little more serious right at the moment. If you are hurting I pray you find healing. I chose this song as a way to soothe the soul. As one of my favorite quotes goes, "Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast, To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak" - William Congreve (The Mourning Bride, 1.1)

Rudie Can't Fail
by The Clash

I should probably dedicate an entire Top 5 to the Grosse Pointe Blank soundtrack. Incredible songs just like this one. There aren't many soundtracks that have The Clash on them.

Shooting Star
by Bad Company

I'm a sap, and all though I'm sure that is obvious, I just wanted to point it out again. Especially when I tell you the first time I heard this song it made me tear up a little. "Watching the world go by suprisingly go so fast." Brilliance I tell you!
Look What You've Done
by Jet

I don't care that the Beatles outsell the Rolling Stones I still pick the Stones. However, I do like the Beatles and this song reminds me a lot of some of their later work. i just wanted to declare that in Beatles vs Stones I side with Keith and Mick.

The Lonesome Loser
by Little River Band

So, I'm feeling a little nostalgic today. "Have you heard about the lonesome loser? Beaten by the queen of hearts everytime. Have you heard about the lonesome loser? He's a loser but he still keeps on trying." You have to give it to a guy who keeps on trying.

Sixteen Tons
by Tennessee Ernie Ford

Merle was playing this yesterday after we discussed how we always thought it was a woman who sang on "Brother Louie". I heard this song in the 6th grade and have just enjoyed it ever since. The older I've gotten the more truth to the lyrics too.

Ten Men Dead
by Deep Sounds

On Friday night my sister, L. got me into her Criminal Minds marathon and this would show up on one of the commercials for A&E. This is really her type of music and reminded us of John the Revelator by Curtis Stigers & the Forrest Rangers. I, however, got into it too, so I'm playing it for you.

Brother Louie
by The Stories

Yep, I'm playing it again. It is stuck in my head and I can't get past it. I've heard this song my entire life and why now I suddenly can't get enough of it I'll never know, but here we are. By the way the singer is blonde on the left.

House of the Rising Sun
by The Animals

Well with Ten Men Dead it reminded me of this poor soul. So, I thought the two should go together.

Riders on the Storm
by The Doors

So, this is kind of in theme with the others. That's just how my brain works. Enjoy!

The Break Up Song
by Greg Kihn Band

So on Saturday it was really sunny. I did however, manage to watch several movies thanks to the Showtime free pass. However, this song is what was on when I woke up this morning. Such a great one that I had to hear it again.
Wave on Wave
by Pat Green

There is a special place in my musical heart for not only country, but Texas country. (Okay part of that could be because I live in Texas.) Anyway, the point is that one of the poster child's for Texas Country is the great Pat Green. And I don't care how commercial this song got I still like it.

If This is It
by Huey Lewis & the News

I was so excited when this came on 80's on 8. I was even more excited this morning when I remembered that. It meant the song I wanted to play would actually be played.

Brother Louie
by The Stories

So I was at lunch with my dad on Friday when this came on, in fact they were playing all 70's, so my dad and I were having fun playing our own version of 'Don't Forget the Lyrics'. I thought I would bring that fun over here.

Streets of Philadelphia

Friday 01/07/11 - Movie Weekend
Waiting for a Star to Fall
by Boy Meets Girl

With rain and winter coming into many people's back yard this weekend I was thinking about how much fun a movie marathon would be all snuggled up on the couch. That got me started on what movies would be great. As I'm sure you guessed I'm sucker for a good romantic comedy (I am a Gleek).

Then I thought of all the great songs at the end of some of those movies and I thought it would be fun to play some of the more - less acknowledged - songs. This is certainly one. This is at the end of Three Men and a Little Baby.

Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now
by Starship

Did I mention I like a good 80's movie too? Good, then some of you might know this one comes from that classic, Mannequin. Seriously who didn't love Hollywood? "Doesn't it just sing?"

I've Had the Time of My Life
by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes

There was an entire summer in my childhood in which I watched Dirty Dancing every day. In fact my best friend and I could watch this movie in 30 minutes by just watching the good parts. Fun times, fun times.

Danger Zone
by Kenny Loggins

Such a great movie. Anthony Edwards as Goose? Just greatness here! And this song? Still incredible all these years later. In fact there is a rule that when I'm driving I'm not allowed to listen to this song because my lead-foot gets heavier...

IIf you're looking for a newer Tom Cruise movie, Knight and Day was really good.

It Must Have Been Love
by Roxette

So the reason I didn't choose Berlin's song from Top Gun is because I was saving up for Roxette from Pretty Woman. Now, from the male population around here this wasn't a favorite, but that's okay, just listen to Danger Zone again. It can count twice.

GGimme Shelter
by The Rolling Stones

There aren't many better songs to wake up to than this one. Of course having a dream where you get the chance to talk to Vincent D'Onofrio and tell him about a show called, Law & Order: Criminal Intent makes you want to wake up, so any song might be welcome, but this made the dream not seem so bad.
Love Song
by Sara Bareilles

This came up on the MP3 player this morning and I do so like it. Really nothing more than that.

That's What You Get
by Paramore

Now you might think I'm get a little cyncial here and that I've gotten my heart broken or something. Well you'd be wrong. I just like this song and anti-love songs just go together.

Another Day in Paradise
by Phil Collins

And you thought the other songs were cyncial. I so adore Phil Collins (did you know he's a huge Texas Revolution buff?). So, I wanted to play one of his songs and I haven't heard this on in a long time.

All Right Now
by Free

So this song might be slightly cynical, but in the coolest way possible. We needed a little pick me up after the last two. Plus, you can never go wrong with good classic rock. NEVER.

Don't Go
by Yazoo

I was feeling the 80's vibe for part of this countdown and this is certainly a prime 80's song.
Like a Rock
by Bob Seger

When I was a kid I never understood the lyric, "Twenty years now where'd they go? Twenty years... I don't know. I sit and I wonder sometimes where they've gone." How can you not know about twenty years? I fully understand it now.

Man in Motion
by John Parr

While I was getting ready this morning this song came on the radio and it got me in such a good mood I thought I would play it again. "Soldier on, only you can do what must be done." Today will be a good day.

Seasons of Love
by Various Artists

So I'm probably the only one on this countdown who is missing Glee, but I am. I heard this on my Pandora yesterday and it helped fill the void of show tunes. You can skip on if need be. Or if you want to indulge yourself and blame me I don't mind. (Yes that is a One Tree Hill video, so there are two things I'm missing.)

Interstate Love Song
by Stone Temple Pilots

SSo I needed a real rock song for this countdown. Of course it reminds me that when I was in high school I never liked to hear this song on Sunday afternoons... reminded me that the weekend was over. However, for a Wednesday morning it is good.

Your Woman
by White Town

I still don't know all the lyrics to this song and I don't care. I just really like the vibe and the different sound. Of course when I hear it in the car and I still have to check the rearview mirror to make sure that isn't a siren. I'm paranoid like that.br />
Sweet Disposition
by Temper Trap

If you've ever clicked by the Lifetime Network you might be familiar with this song. If you haven't then enjoy a really sweet song and a different sound. And the video isn't that bad either.
Mad World
by Gary Jules

I played this song for one reason only: the premiere of Hidden Secrets, or something like that. Its the promo where the little girl is talking about her town and she knows who killed her and soon you will too... yeah. They play this song and it makes me want to finish it every time. So I succumbed and here we are.
Same Old Song
by Four Tops

Okay that was a little depressing and morbid and nothing in music makes me feel as good as motown does. Nothing. Even if the song itself has a sad theme I just find it impossible to not let the music make me feel better when listening to it. I hope you have the same reaction, otherwise you can skip to a song you like. Or go back to the sadder song if that's your thing.
Higher Ground
by Stevie Wonder

This song woke me up this morning. Talk about peppy too. Plus when I hear this I think of the movie, Pursuit of Happyness, and it makes me get up out of bed and go fight the good fight. I know good things are coming.

Solsbury Hill
by Peter Gabriel

So for this first Monday of the new year I wanted to pick songs that help to motivate me. Especially after I hit my snooze alarm not once, but three times this morning. This is my go-to song to get motivated again because of way too many reasons to name here. However, a big one is because it reminds me of the city, and the city reminds me of ambition, and thus inspires me to get my butt up and going and working more dilligently.
Eye of the Tiger
by Survivor

This is classic. I don't know many people who don't have this on their rotation for being motivated or inspired. Of course if you are one who doesn't, may I suggest this incredible and classic song to you. I know it helps me when I'm trying to think of the next strategy for work.
Movin' On Up
by Third Day

Because I don't know about you, but I want 2011 to be an incredible year. This song keeps me reminded that yes I can have a better year. If you need that extra umph may I suggest this song for you? "I'm movin' on up now, getting out of the darkness..." great lyrics to start a new year to.
Defying Gravity

I will grant you that this is the cheesy choice of the countdown. You will probably only enjoy it if you like Glee or show tunes, but if you do, a great song and choice for this huh? If you don't like it feel free to move to the next song, I understand. There are few genres I don't like, but the ones I do I gladly skip, so if this isn't your cup of tea I understand.

Talk about a workin' song. Not only do I so enjoy the movie, but this song is great when I need to get out of bed in the morning and not drag my feet. Plus the video with Supernatural? Awesome!
